catena杂志投稿要求
catena杂志是一本跨学科的杂志专注于土壤科学和地貌学、地球生态学、景观生态学、景观学进化和水文学,发表新颖的研究论文、评论、实地、实验室和(或)建模等。
Catena is an interdisciplinary journal of soil science and geomorphology with a focus on geoecology, landscape ecology, landscape evolution and hydrology. Original research papers, comments, and reviews linking field, laboratory, and/or modelling results, integrating different geospheres, and discussing soil and landscape processes on different spatial and temporal scales will be considered, provided they are sufficiently novel and of broad interest.
Reviews are expected to critically discuss and synthesise findings and approaches on topics falling within the core aims of Catena. Short comments (no more than 2 journal pages i.e. ca. 2000 words) are considered for publication only if they bring important scientific new elements and/or corrections/improvements on substantial aspects of previously published articles.
Manuscripts that will not be considered include papers on the following topics:
- Research papers summarising literature results, and bibliometric analyses (meta-analyses are not included).
- Studies without explicit relation to landscape patterns or processes, such as:
- Purely geological or groundwater studies.
- Runoff studies that have no relation to soil or geomorphic change.
- Chemical laboratory experiments with no relation to ‘real’ field conditions.
- Microbiological studies with no relation to soil formation or landscape processes.
- Geotechnical and environmental engineering studies.
- Geobotanical, ecological and vegetation studies with no (or limited) relation to soil, hydrology, geomorphology or landscape evolution.
- Agricultural/crop production experiments without a solid relation to landscape.
- Studies on ecosystem services and land use planning.
- Comparisons of the performance and robustness of models and statistical methods (e.g. process-based, or machine learning) with no or only a minimal landscape-learning effect.
- Regionally oriented studies which cannot be applied to other landscapes (or lack novelty in approach or methodology).

Guide for Authors
CATENA publishes original contributions in the fields of:
Geoecology, the geoscientific-hydro-climatological subset of process-oriented studies of the present ecosystem
– the total environment of landscapes and sites
– the flux of energy and matter (water, solutes, suspended matter, bed load) with special regard to space-time variability
– the changes in the present ecosystem, including the earth’s surface and
Landscape Evolution, the genesis of the present ecosystem, in particular the genesis of its structure concerning soils, sediment, relief, their spatial organization and analysis in terms of paleoprocesses;
– soils: surface, relief and fossil soils, their spatial organization pertaining to relief development
– sediment with relevance to landscape evolution, the paleohydrologic environment with respect to surface runoff, competence, and capacity for transport of bed material and suspended matter, infiltration, groundwater and channel flow
– the earth’s surface, relief elements and their spatial-hierarchical organization in relation to soils and sediment
– the paleoclimatological properties of the sequence of paleoenvironments.
Types of paper
CATENA publishes multidisciplinary studies as well as monodisciplinary papers that are of interest to other disciplines and are of relevance to landscape studies.
1. Original research papers (Regular Papers)
2. Review articles
3. Technical Notes
Original research papers should report the results of original research. The material should not have been previously published elsewhere, except in a preliminary form.
Review articles should cover subjects falling within the scope of the journal and which are of active current interest. They may be submitted or invited.
A Technical Note is a short article on new developments, significant advances and novel aspects of experimental and theoretical methods and techniques relevant to the scope of Catena. A technical note can also include novel software developments and computational methods. The Technical Note should be used for information that cannot be adequately incorporated into an Original Research Article, and that is of sufficient value to be brought to the attention of the readers of the Journal. The note should describe the nature of the new method, technique or procedure and clarify how it differs from those currently in use, citing relevant literature. Technical Notes should be no more than 5 Journal pages (~5000 words and 2 Figures or Tables). Technical notes are sent for full peer review. Electronic Supplements such as programming code, validation data or user manuals can be added to a Technical Note.
Submission checklist
You can use this list to carry out a final check of your submission before you send it to the journal for review. Please check the relevant section in this Guide for Authors for more details.

Catena
